Whereas, the Missouri University of Science and Technology has remained stead fast to its mission as a land grant institution in an effort to provide all Missourians access to higher education regardless of social standing, and;
Whereas, over seventy-five percent (75%) of students at Missouri S&T rely on scholarships, grants, and loans to pay for highly sought out degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and;
Whereas, the state money collected from taxpayers that is used for the funding of Access Missouri should be equally distributed amongst the students at public and private universities;
Be It Resolved, the students at the Missouri University of Science and Technology support the basis of HB792 and SB390 which aim at equalizing the award provided by the Access Missouri program to students attending four-year public and private universities, and;
Be It Further Resolved, the students at Missouri S&T do not believe that the decision on the part of any individual to attend a public or private institution should be used by the Missouri Legislature to differentiate the need required by students to attend college.
