Leadership

Student Council’s Executive Committee is comprised of the five Officers, the Student Body President and Vice Presidents; all the Committee Chairs, Executive Liaisons, and Board Chairs; as well as two Executives at Large and two Staff or Faculty Advisors.

The members of the Executive Committee are divided into multiple branches, each led by a Vice-President of Student Council. The Engagement and Outreach branch manages all communication with the greater Rolla community, develops leadership on campus, furthers student diversity, and handles all other public relations matters. The Operations branch oversees all internal monetary affairs, rules, attendance, and documentation. The Student Services branch advocates for the Student Body on all matters regarding the services provided to students on campus. Finally, the Academic Affairs branch works with the colleges on campus to implement beneficial changes to the numerous programs offered at S&T.

You can also see which hours any member of our team has dedicated to being in the Student Council office in Room 232 of Havener Center. All Officers have at minimum five hours each week, and other Executives have at least three. Board Chairs, Executives at Large, and Advisors are not required to have Office Hours.

Leadership Role Descriptions

Auxiliary Services Liaison

The Auxiliary Services Liaison is responsible for liaising between students and administration on the following campus services: Havener Center, Gale-Bullman, Intramural Services, and the Athletics department. This primarily takes the form of chairing both the Fitness and Recreation Advisory Committee (FRAC) and the Havener Advisory Committee (HAC).

Academic Resources Lead

The Academic Resources Lead serves as an intermediary between the various buildings, services, and organizations on campus that provide resources to students that benefit them academically. Examples of these buildings, services, and organizations include, but are not limited to: LEAD, the Writing Center, the Curtis Laws Wilson Library, the SDELC, and any other groups that approach Student Council with the goal of helping students academically.

College of Engineering and Computing Lead

The College of Engineering and Computing Lead is responsible for overseeing the policy needs and concerns for all of the academic departments and the committee that fall under the College of Engineering & Computing. These include concerns regarding curriculum, faculty and staff, growth needs, and student advocacy.

College of Arts, Sciences, & Education Lead

The College of Arts, Sciences, & Education Lead is responsible for overseeing the policy needs and concerns of the academic departments and the committee that fall under the College of Arts, Sciences, & Education. These include concerns regarding curriculum, faculty and staff, growth needs, and student advocacy.

Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development Lead

The Kummer College Chair is responsible for overseeing the policy needs and concerns for all of the academical departments and the committee that fall under the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development. These include concerns regarding curriculum, faculty and staff, growth needs, student advocacy, and any other tasks assigned to it by the officers, executive committee, or general body.

Campus Infrastructure Lead

The Campus Infrastructure Lead is responsible for liaising between students and administration on the following campus services: Campus Facilities and Information Technology. This shall primarily take the form of chairing the Campus Infrastructure Committee, which addresses all campus physical and technological issues.

Leadership Development Lead

The Leadership Development Committee Lead is responsible for coordinating Student Council’s effort to develop and recognize leaders throughout Missouri S&T. These efforts include an event to recognize leaders across campus, programming to promote leadership skills for both new and experienced leaders.

Public Relations Lead

The Public Relations Committee Lead is responsible for marketing Student Council to campus, students, prospective students, and the community. The committee’s duties include publicizing and promoting Student Council events and activities, recruiting Student Council members, and maintaining the Student Council website.

Wellness and Professional Services Liaison

The Wellness and Professional Services Liaison is the intermediary between students and administration of the following campus services: Student Health, Counseling Services, Miner Wellness, and Career Services. This shall primarily take the form of chairing both the Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) and Career Services Advisory Committee (CSAC).

Community Liaison

The Community Liaison serves as an intermediary to the Rolla City Council, mainly by attending City Council meetings. This liaison voices issues regarding the City of Rolla brought forth from the student body, seeks to resolve said issues, and reports the progress of these issues at each meeting of the Student Council.

Student Diversity Liaison

The Student Diversity Liaison serves as an intermediary among the student organizations representing the broad swath of student diversity at Missouri S&T and coordinates activities among these groups and Student Council.

Membership Liaison

The Membership Liaison serves as the keeper and maintainer of all information regarding the current membership of Student Council, applications for membership, past membership records, and attendance records. This includes all communications related to attendance. In addition, this liaison serves as chair of the Representative at Large Committee when it is active.

Clerk of the Council

The Clerk of the Council (shortened to Clerk) serves as the keeper and maintainer of all official business publications and records of Student Council. This includes but is not limited to the tasks of: writing Agendas and Minutes, taking detailed notes during General Meetings to be used to create Minutes, formatting Bills and Resolutions, and keeping copies of all the aforementioned documents and other important documents available.
