Hobbies

I like to spend my free time playing video games, writing code, and hosting servers, mostly for sandbox or open world style games (Minecraft for example). I’ve been an ice hockey referee for over 6 years, after I grew up skating and playing in St. Louis. I spend lots of my time playing clarinet for the band and in student ensembles, and I especially enjoy getting to play at sporting events like Basketball and Football games. Overall, though, I just like to relax and spend time with my friends.

Goals

I want to make the voice of the Student Body a force to be reckoned with. Many students on our campus feel that their concerns about the university aren’t recognized. To solve this, I want to grow the influence of Student Council to the point where it can support positive change, and firmly stand its ground against any changes that would negatively affect our experience as students. My other goals include:

  • Working with faculty to reduce unnecessary stress on students
  • Adding additional student-focused recreational and tech facilities to campus
  • Prioritizing the issues that affect students on a daily basis, by being open to feedback at any time, as I have for both my terms as Student Council’s Vice President of Operations.

What makes you the best candidate for this position?

I have unparalleled experience when it comes to leading organizations and driving change here on campus. Over my two years as an Officer of Student Council, I’ve completely overhauled our Constitution and internal procedures. I’ve also started work on changes to our executive roles to make the organization more effective than ever. I have connections with the leaders of many organizations on campus, which I’ll be able to use to gather a wide range of feedback on what issues affect students most on a day-to-day basis. With administration making major changes in the structure of the Student Involvement and Student Affairs departments, it will be critical to have an experienced leader guiding the decision-making process in the coming year. I believe that my time in Student Council, my diverse leadership and organization membership background, and my knowledge of the university’s inner workings make me the most qualified person to fill this important role.
